In addition there are significant numbers of inpatient consultations and the Department runs General Respiratory Outpatient clinic, Sleep Disorders Outpatient clinic and Migrant Screening Outpatient clinics. The Sleep Disorders Unit performs approximately 1900 sleep studies per annum and these include both in laboratory and in the home studies. The Respiratory Function Laboratory performs a complete range of tests. Research opportunities in sleep and general respiratory medicine abound within the department. The department is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical and paramedical/Allied health education.

The Respiratory Function Laboratory performs a complete range of tests. Research opportunities in sleep and general respiratory medicine abound within the department. The department is involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical and paramedical/Allied health education.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Officers interested in pursuing further training as a Registrar in this area of specialty. The position is available for an Advanced Trainee in Sleep Medicine and is a joint postition between Western Health and Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre. The position is for 12 months commencing on 7th February 2011 and continuing through until 5th February 2012.

Western Health Radiology is the major provider of radiology services to the people of the Western Suburbs. The radiology services are located at Sunshine and Western Hospitals and cover both paediatric, adult inpatient and outpatient imaging.
We are equipped with the latest and most up to date digital radiology and Ultrasound equipment. Our Ultrasound equipment is State of the Art, encompassing 5 Philips IU 22 and 2 Philips 5000 machines. Our departments are fully filmless in a PACS environment, and provide sonographers with a wide variety of examinations (O and G, general and vascular ultrasound), and interesting cases and pathologies.
